Bondage Week Day 5
I'm quite well known for my shibari and rope bondage in both the fetish world and photography world so I thought I'd do a 'bondage week' for the rest of this week featuring some photos from my recent book 'London Bound' which can be seen at
www.TwistedArts.co.uk/londonbound

Day 5 now and we are in south west London with Katja, here, bizarrely, tied to the back of her kitchen door. Graceful I think you'll agree.

I asked each girl to write a little about their thoughts and feelings about the project a few weeks later and their words were included in the book, on the photo there is what Katja thought of it.

I had a portable flash on the right just out of shot pointing up towards the ceiling so there is some bounce and some direct light, harsh yet simple lighting. Soft-focus was in-photoshop.

I like the softness of this. Still don't get the whole bondage thing but you have captured it well.
Mark Varley: Thank you Gail.
Bondage is about handing over control and responsibility to someone else, taking time-out and letting go. When you are bound you cannot move, you cannot do anything so you just 'are', you can just 'be'. There is no gas bill waiting to be paid, there is no job waiting to be done, there is no doctors test result to worry about, there is just you, the ropes that bind and caress you, and the person tying you, in control.
Add to that the beautifully peaceful state it can put you and the wonderful shapes and textures rope can give and I find it a fascinating place to take my camera.
Perhaps this has enlightened you a little smile

I'm not really comfortable with the bondage per se, but I like this one a lot. I think the stuff on the left distructs too much, though. The shot would look much better, if the room was empty, don't you think?
Mark Varley: As a photograph I do agree that the items to the left of the photo are distracting, however they show you a real environment, this is not a model and a prop-doorway creating an effect, this is the girls kitchen. Reality was part of the theme of the book so I left it in for this one.
Thank you for your comments smile
He is peculiar! In spite of the hardness of bondage, this photo watches pleasant candy and!
Mark Varley: :-D
